Passing of Former Town Manager, Stuart Liberman

The Town remembers the life and service of former Town Manager Stuart “Stu” Liberman. We share the following from his family:

With great sadness, we announce the loss of our beloved patriarch, Stuart Liberman, z"l.

Stu passed quietly and pain free in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family on Friday evening, October 29, 2021.

Thank you for your support and kindness during the last 3 months.

Born on October 1, 1934 in Camden, NJ, Stu played high school football at Woodrow Wilson High School before earning his undergraduate degree in Economics and Masters Degree in Business Administration. After completion of Armed Services duty in 1963, Stu enjoyed a 46-year professional career as Town Manager and Administrator in Camden, NJ, Surfside, FL and Lake Clarke Shores, FL before retiring in 1999. As an alumnus of his beloved Villanova University, Stu rarely missed seeing a Villanova football or basketball game, and he could recite starting line ups, Superbowl winners, and the most detailed plays of any football, basketball and baseball game dating as far back as the 1940s.

Stu, became an iconic Town Manager during his 16 year administration of Lake Clarke Shores in Palm Beach County. The town had barely 3000 residents in 1983 and grew to over 3500 at his retirement in 1999, while significantly improving the quality of life with public services, parks, increased support for police and fire departments and a total technology transformation. Lake Clarke Shores became a highly sought-after residential destination for many families and second home-owners, thanks to Stu’s leadership and vision. During retirement, Stu remained an active member and supporter of Habonim and the Jewish Federation in Miami, FL.

Stu was a wonderful family man who adored Frances Steinfeld Liberman, Z”L, his wife and partner of 31 years. He was loved by many, including his step-daughter, Rita Regev Spector; step-son Charles Steinfeld; step-son-in- laws, Sidney Spector and Meir Regev, and especially his adoring grandchildren Assaf (Moria & Yuval), Amit (Lee), Nadav, and Adam.

He will be missed by all his loving friends and family.

Funeral services were held at Lakeside Memorial in Miami, Florida, on Monday, November 1, 2021.
