Keeping Lake Clarke Shores Safe, Clean, and Beautiful Through Code Enforcement
The Code Enforcement Division helps residents, property owners, and businesses comply with the Town’s Code of Ordinances. Our goal is voluntary compliance to keep Lake Clarke Shores safe and beautiful.
What we do: - Respond to complaints and observed violations - Work with property owners to resolve issues - Present cases to the Code Enforcement Board when needed.
Note: Under Florida law, anonymous complaints cannot be investigated unless the violation presents an imminent threat to health, safety, or welfare, or imminent destruction of habitat or sensitive resources. Complaints are public records.

How the process works
- Complaint or Observation — A Code Enforcement Officer may open a case based on an observed issue or a complaint through the MGO portal.
- Notice of Violation — If a violation exists, a Notice of Violation will state the issue and provide a deadline to correct it.
- Re‑inspection — The Officer re‑inspects by the deadline.
- Hearing (if needed) — If not corrected, a Notice of Hearing is issued to appear before the Code Enforcement Board. The Board generally meets monthly on the 4th Wednesday and may grant additional time, impose daily fines, and authorize liens for continued non‑compliance.
- Compliance & Closure — Cases are closed when compliance is verified. Payments for fines or liens can be made online via the portal (coming soon).
Maximum daily fines: up to $250 per violation per day and up to $500 per repeat violation per day (unless otherwise provided by law).
