Chief David E. England was born and raised in northern Palm Beach County and is a graduate of Jupiter Christian School. He began his law enforcement career with the Largo Police Department in 1994. In 1998, he returned to his hometown and joined the Jupiter Police Department.
Throughout his career, Chief England held a variety of key roles, including Field Training Officer, Firearms Instructor, Training Coordinator, SWAT Team Member, and SWAT Team Commander. He also commanded the department’s Administrative Services, Patrol Operations, and Criminal Investigations Bureaus.
In 2018, he was promoted to Deputy Chief of Police, and in January 2021, he was appointed Chief of Police for the Jupiter Police Department. He served in this role until his retirement in October 2024, leading an agency of 121 sworn officers and more than 30 civilian personnel.
Chief England holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida State University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy’s 246th Session in Quantico, Virginia.
Chief England’s leadership philosophy centers on building strong, collaborative relationships with the community and within the law enforcement community. He believes effective policing is rooted in servant leadership and proactive engagement. His vision focuses on delivering exceptional law enforcement services by equipping staff with the highest-quality training, education, and technology—ensuring officers are prepared to serve safely, efficiently, and effectively.
Chief England has been married to his wife, Karen, since 1999. They have two sons.
