Vegetation & Debris Information

Before a Storm

It is very important that NO tree trimming or removal occurs once a Hurricane is expected to hit our area. By performing this additional cutting it weighs down the collection system that is attempting to collect the normal vegetation per schedule.  It is also very important that you do NOT toss out bulk items, or create extensive trash for collection. It is our service provider's job to ensure it provides as much pre-storm collection as possible, but creating additional waste you are preventing a normal collection.

Absolutely no trash of any kind should be put out once a Hurricane Watch has been issued for our area, aside from regularly scheduled trash as long as trash collection has not been stopped. Any trash, vegetation, or bulk items out at this time will be notified to remove the pile from the roadside and secure it.

After the Storm

Due to the reimbursement process of the Federal government trash, vegetation and debris must be sorted into piles. The Town has contracted with a debris removal company to remove Hurricane Debris, they are only authorized to remove certain debris from homes, they are expected to document and account for that debris disposal. Our regular service provider Waste Management will only pick up household trash and recycle during this time.

All waste is the homeowners' responsibility to drag to the road, do not stack or lean debris against signs, poles, or trees. Debris should be on the swale of the property and not in the roadway.

Trash will need to be sorted into the below categories:

  1. Normal Household Garbage - This trash will need to be in closed trash bags, placed in your assigned Lake Clarke Shores Trash Containers.
  2. Vegetation Debris - Leaves not bagged, logs cut into less than 50 lbs pieces, tree branches, and palm fronds.
  3. Construction & Demolition Debris - Building materials, fence materials, lumber/plywood, drywall, Screen patio debris, plumbing debris.
  4. Electronic Waste - Televisions, computers, stereos, etc.
  5. Hazardous Waste - Chemicals, paint, pesticides, etc.
  6. Recycling - please continue to sort recyclables into the appropriate color containers.

MIXED PILES OF DEBRIS or BAGGED DEBRIS WILL NOT BE COLLECTED and will be the responsibility of the Home Owner to remove.
