2019/2020 Legislative Sessions

  • Senator Berman will be making a short presentation during the Town Council Meeting on the 11th to discuss the 2019 Legislative Session.  Please thank her for our special appropriation.
  • I will be working with Representative Silvers on new Annexation legislation for the 2020 Legislature.  Several other Cities in the State will be included in the negotiations and we have asked PBC Fire/Rescue to become involved as an affected and interested party.
  • We are participating in several of the Florida League of Cities Legislative Policy Committees.  These state-wide Committees set the priorities for the Florida Leagues focus for 2020.  Vice Mayor Paul Shalhoub will Chair the Finance, Taxation & Personnel Committee.  President Pro-Tem Robert Shalhoub will be participating in the Municipal Administration Committee.  Council Member Greg Freebold is a member of the Utilities, Natural Resources & Public Works Committee.  I am a member of the Land Use and Economic Development Committee.
  • I will receive the Home Rule Hero Award from the Florida League of Cities during the Palm Beach County League of Cities meeting June 26th.

Customer Self Service Portal for Utility Payments

After months of effort and countless hours of work by a team of software implementation engineers, trainers, credit card processing companies, banks, and our staff, we are finally ready to roll out our upgraded utility billing program and payment processing program.  Zoie led the implementation team and as soon as Elliot has completed the how-to-sign-up handout, we will mail the instructions to all of our utility customers.  We will soon be able to process credit cards, debit cards, e-checks, Electronic Fund Transfers, and automatic payments. Our customers will be able to look up their bills online, view 12-month billing history, and pay their bill online.

New PBC Fire Rescue Administrator

The new Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Administrator, Reginald Duren, our new 10th Battalion Chief, Justin Shainuck, and District Chief Tracy Adams came by to introduce themselves last Tuesday.  We discussed the Town, their response times, our agreement for training EMT’s, and the Keller Gate operations.  They reiterated their support for the existing programs, thanked us for the offer of Marine One, and told us the MSTU millage rate wouldn’t be changing any time soon.
